Compassion

The account of President Gordon B. Hinckley's childhood story is a powerful reminder to all of us. Many times we may not know who desperately needs assistance and who doesn't. As followers of Jesus Christ it becomes our responsibility to help and lift those around us regardless of their circumstances. Just as those two young boys couldn't have foreseen the effects of their gift, neither can we always see the fruits of our service. To some our acts of charity may be an answer to a pray. A miracle that allows them to overcome their present trials and return thanks to their Heavenly Father. Our acts of charity need not always be in a monetary form. Often, a smile or a kind word can help to lift those who are struggling with their private burdens. May we always remember to follow the example of our Savior Jesus Christ and lift the spiritually and emotionally sick and afflicted around us. (See "Lessons Learned as a Boy" on mormon.org)

As always, if you would like to learn more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (also called the "Mormon Church") feel free to use the link located on the left side to request missionaries. There are missionaries worldwide who share the message of Jesus Christ and the Restoration of His Church on the earth today.
